Family Connections
Ethical Fund Development and Financial Accountability Code
Donor’s
Rights
Philanthropy is based on voluntary action for the common good. To ensure
that philanthropy merits the respect and trust of the general community, and
that donors and prospective donors can have full confidence in Family
Connections fund development practices, Family Connections declares that all
donors have these rights:

To be informed of
Family Connections’ mission, of the way the organization intends to use
donated resources, and of its capacity to use donations effectively for
their intended purposes.

To be informed,
promptly upon request, of the names of those serving on Family
Connections’ Board of Directors, and to expect the board to exercise
prudent judgment in its stewardship responsibilities.

To receive,
promptly upon request, a copy of this Ethical Fund Development and
Financial Accountability Code.

To have access to
Family Connections most recent annual report and financial statements as
approved by the board.

To be assured
their gifts will be used for the purposes for which they were given.

To receive
appropriate acknowledgement and recognition, whether the gift is
monetary or non-monetary (gifts-in-kind).

To be assured that
information about their donation is handled with respect, and that donor
records maintained by Family Connections will be kept confidential to
the greatest extent possible.

To have access to
their own donor record and to challenge its accuracy.

To expect that all
relationships with Family Connections’ fund development personnel will
be professional in nature and to be informed if those personnel are
volunteers, employees of the organization, or hired fundraising
professional.

To have their
request for anonymity by respected.

To be assured that
Family Connections will promptly respond to a complaint by a donor or
prospective donor about any matter that is addressed in this Ethical
Fund Development and Financial Accountability Code.

To feel free to
ask questions when making a donation and to receive prompt, truthful and
forthright answers.
